Why 1973 was rugby’s greatest year…

It wasn’t the 6 Nations, nor even the RBS 6 Nations then.

It was just the Five Nations Championship: Wales, Ireland, England, Scotland and France.

Guess which team won?

Did you guess France, or perhaps Wales? If you did, you’re absolutely right. Wales won. So did France. And Ireland, too. And so did Scotland. And England as well.

Yes, everyone won! All of them. How wonderful! Hurrah for us all! No losers here…

Really speaks to the freelivin’ spirit of the ’70’s, doesn’t it? Now that‘s a great competition.


Oh, and 1973 also featured the (by general consensus) greatest try ever scored…
